Zoned
What we do

Restricted products, only where they're allowed.

Zoned is a Shopify app for stores that sell products that are legal in some places and restricted in others. You set where each product can't be sold, and Zoned holds that rule on your storefront and at checkout.

The problem

Your store is open everywhere. The law isn’t the same everywhere.

Without a tool, merchants work around it: separate stores, shipping-zone hacks, or reading every order by hand before it ships. Those miss orders and leave no record of what you did or when.

Two places, two jobs

Zoned works on your storefront and at checkout.

A product page showing a notice that the product can't be sold in the shopper's state, with add to cart disabled

On your storefront · a courtesy

Out of sight where it can’t be sold

For shoppers in a restricted place, the product drops out of collections and search, or shows a clear notice you write. Its own page still opens from a direct link, with the notice and no way to add it to the cart. The storefront uses the shopper’s approximate location, so it’s a convenience, not the safeguard.

Shopify checkout refusing an order for a restricted product

At checkout · the safeguard

The order can’t go through

Shopify itself checks every order’s shipping address against your rules before payment. A restricted order is refused with your message, whatever device, link or app the shopper came from. This is where Zoned enforces your rules.

What Zoned isn’t

It enforces the rules you set.

Zoned doesn’t decide what’s legal where. You know your products and your obligations, and you set the rules; Zoned holds them consistently and keeps a record. It isn’t legal advice, so check the laws that apply to you with someone qualified.

Zoned also doesn’t change what search engines see, your sales channels or your markets. It works on your online store and its checkout.

Sell it where you can.
Block it where you can’t.
