Questions, answered.
How Zoned works, what shoppers see, pricing, and what happens to your data.
Does Zoned make my store compliant?
Zoned enforces the rules you set, consistently, and keeps a record of them. It doesn't decide what's legal where, and it isn't legal advice. Check the laws that apply to your products with someone qualified, then set your rules to match.
What actually stops a restricted order?
Shopify's checkout. Zoned gives your rules to Shopify, which checks every order's shipping address before payment and refuses a restricted one with your message. That's the safeguard; it works whatever device, link or app the shopper came from.
Is the product hidden from shoppers in restricted places?
On your storefront, shoppers in a restricted place won't find it in collections and search, or they see a notice you write. Its own page still opens from a direct link, with the notice and no way to add it to the cart. The storefront uses the shopper's approximate location, so checkout is what enforces.
How precise can a rule be?
Countries, states and provinces, single ZIP codes, and ZIP prefixes. Group them into zones and reuse a zone in as many rules as you need.
Can a rule start on the day a law takes effect?
Yes. Give the rule a start date, and an end date if it has one. Zoned switches it on and off on those days, on your storefront and at checkout.
Do new products get covered automatically?
Rules can target products, collections or tags. When you add a tag or put a product in a restricted collection, Zoned picks it up.
Will shoppers elsewhere notice anything?
No. Zoned adds no pop-ups and no location prompts. Shoppers outside your restricted places see your store exactly as before.
How much does it cost?
It depends on your Shopify plan, from $290 a year on Basic to $2,990 a year on Plus, with every feature on every plan and a 30-day free trial. See pricing.
Which Shopify plans are supported?
Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus. Development and sandbox stores are free. Shopify Starter isn't supported, because it has no theme storefront.
What happens to my data if I uninstall?
Zoned stops working right away and its access to your store ends. 48 hours later, when Shopify asks, Zoned deletes everything it holds about your store: rules, zones, the activity log and staff records. Download your compliance report first if you need to keep it. See the privacy policy.
Does Zoned store my customers' data?
No. To work out where a shopper is, Zoned uses their chosen shipping location, their saved address if they're logged in, or an approximate location from their IP address, looked up on our server and never stored.
